9 Reasons Why The 49ers Will Win The NFC Championship

Updated On: January 19, 2014
Seahawks and 49ers ready to renew the NFL's best rivalry ...
The 49ers enter this week's game healthy at skill positions. Michael Crabtree's resurgence as a feared WR will keep the Seahawks honest instead of stacking the box against Frank Gore. This is not the same 49ers team they played in Week 2 and it is certainly a better team than that which won 5 weeks ago at Candlestick Park. "Is this 49ers team better than the last time they played the Seahawks?"

Not to take anything away from Seattle, but 3 years of attending the NFC Championship Game in a row is an amazing feat. Despite NFL analysts consistently favoring the opposing team, Jim Harbaugh and company continue to set new limits to what this Franchise can do. They have been underdogs before and look at how that's turned out for them. For more on why Harbaugh is a great coach, read this article from Press Democrat.

Arizona made the blueprint for how to play Russell Wilson, serving him his first loss since the 49ers beat the Seahawks in 2011. Since then, his stats have been abysmal characterized by stalled drives and sad passing yards. If the 49ers expand on their previous game plan for containing Wilson, they will have to depend on Lynch to carry them to victory. The 49ers have not allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. "Did the Cardinals expose Russell Wilson?"

The Man is clutch. The last time he wasn't, they were 5 yards away from a Lombardi Trophy. Since 2012, the 49ers have relied on him less and less to win games but when called upon, he has the license to narrowly squeak out game winning drives. Commentary around the league continue to dissect his accuracy, ability to read defenses, and pocket presence but for whatever reason, the man just keeps winning.

Jim Harbaugh sings a Johnny Cash song
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh sings a little version of Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere" when describing all the road games the 49ers have ...

The 49ers have won back to back road games over Carolina, Green Bay, Arizona and Tampa Bay. They are the winningest road team this year and are well prepared to face a division rival they have played twice already this year. Going to Century Link is unlike any road game a team can prepare for, but if anybody can do it (and Arizona has already shown how), the 49ers can.

It's no secret that the Seahawks possess the most physical defensive backs in the league. Many who watch Seattle on a regular basis swear by holding and P.I.s on a regular basis. Enter Greg Meyer, the side judge who called both holding penalties on Richard Sherman during the most recent contest between the two teams. Bear in mind that the 49ers receivers are coming into their own with Crabtree back from his injury. Seattle cannot double everybody and the receivers entering Century Link this weekend each have the potential to light up any team, especially in the playoffs. Consider these post-season stats.
