A story of sacrifice n true love.. real life heroes. LOVE BEYOND LIFE {Real Life story} This is a real life story, which depicts supreme sacrifice & dedication towards duty and an unfathomable example of love, which may sound like fiction, but is based on the real TRUTH of LIFE.There was a young couple in the gathering, both in their thirties, strolling on the path way to the Auditorium to attend a cultural evening. The lady was constantly chirping in a low voice audible only to her husband. I was inquisitive and approached them to help them into the Auditorium. The lady cheerfully introduced herself as Indrakshi, wife of Asstt Commandant Sandeep Mishra. Sandeep, with his black goggles on, just smiled, leaving me to wonder about the mystery of the black goggles in the evening, but soon I realised that this calm smiling face was escorted by his cheerful lady wife Indrakshi, due to the complete loss of his sight: and not the vision. She said, “Today we are very happy because my husband is himself a very good singer and he always waits for a function like this.” I was a bit amazed to see such interesting couple and could not hold the tantrums in my stomach to know more about them. I politely asked Mrs Indrakshi as how they got married. She smiled and said that there is a long but short story behind it. “What story?” I got a bit more curious to know. She giggled and said “You must have heard about the phrase that ‘Marriages are made in heaven’, ours is the same case”. “ How come? ” I was surprised again. She narrated with her thoughts going to the depth-that, “It was before marriage, on one fine winter evening, I was sitting along with my family members around a fireplace to keep ourselves warm, and in order to keep fire alive we were using old newspapers. At that time my loving parents were on the lookout for a suitable groom for me. Suddenly, I caught a glimpse of a piece of Matrimonial edition, which I was going to put into fire. It was a proposal for suitable bride for a visually challenged BSF officer, none other than Sandeep. I don’t know due to what heavenly powers or the reasons beyond any explanation I felt myself glued to that Ad. After undergoing deep turmoil like a whirlpool in my mind, and stringent anger and resentment from my own family, I decided to give my consent for this proposal. There was some unknown feeling of satisfaction which was guiding me to achieve the cause of my life and helped me to take firm stand on my decision. And this is how we got married against all odds.” On hearing this from the Noble lady, I was literally flabbergasted at the conviction of her decision making and the glorious satisfaction on their faces. In December 2000, after about 10 months from passing out from the BSF Academy as a smart officer trainee of AC (DE) Srl 23 Sandeep Mishra, Asstt Commandant, was detailed to undergo Army attachment in Assam while he was serving with 77 Bn BSF at,,,,,,, During his attachment with 6 Jat Regt, a massacre took place in sub division Sadhiya (Assam), in which 32 North Indians were killed by ULFA terrorists. Law and order situation got worsened in and around that area and Asstt Commandant Sandeep Mishra was tasked to carryout effective domination in disturbed area in coordination with local police. On 13 Dec 2000, while carrying out joint patrolling, his party was completely trapped in an ULFA ambush near village Tupsingha, Sadhiya by ULFA terrorists resulting to the spot death of two Assam Police personnel and fatal injuries to other four personnel including Asstt Commandant Sandeep Mishra, who sustained five bullet hits. One bad luck bullet had hit Sandeep on the left temple, piercing from the left to right through both the eyes and leaving behind pieces of wounded flesh soaked in a pool of blood. Inspite of being very critically injured he continued firing on extremists, he did not lost his consciousness and commanded his party till they could get reinforcement of other party. He was air evacuated to the Military Hospital, where the Surgeons battled to save his life. Later he was shifted to RR Hospital, Delhi and then to Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai for various surgeries. The great team of Doctors were able to save his life, but inspite of the prolonged efforts they could not restore his eyes. He was our dear Hero without the power of sight but with the power of vision. In his own words “I knew that my life would not be the same again. I am not going to get what I desired from life. But inspite of that, all the worst handicaps of my life could not shatter my faith in the Almighty God and were not able to dwindle my spirit to live an honourable life. I joined NIVH (National Institute for Visually Handicapped),Dehradun for reorientation and one year computer course. I was not in favour of getting married, so that I may not become a burden on someone else, but my parents goaded me with the plea of their old age and gave matrimonial advertisement for searching a suitable match for me(A visually challenged BSF Prahari Officer.) Indrakshi saw that advertisement and did not take very long to visualise my condition. She decided to step on the higher altar of sacrifice than me and be my life and life partner in spite of initial resentment from her own friends and family members. She was having a strong family background and was also teaching at St Basil School, one of the renowned school of Basti (UP) . I was also amazed to know after getting a response. Due to my fatal injuries, I could survive but having complete loss of vision for rest of my life. It was total darkness in my life but in the month of April 2004 she came in my life with the light of new joys and happiness. Indrakshi is a dynamic woman who holds a pleasing and impressive personality, She was fully aware with my condition that vision of my eyes cannot be restored but she took my condition very normally and we got married on 31st of May 2004. Presently we are living a very happy life we are also blessed with a daughter on 20th June 2007. I think the decision to get marry a person who is visually challenged is very difficult for any normal girl but she did it ignoring the social pressure against this marriage. Now, we are living a normal and happy life, this act of courage to get marry with me gives a positive message to the society that life is not only to think about oneself but one should do some thing for the society also. She broke all the social barriers to serve the humanity.” Indrakshi then started talking. “How could I marry any other man than the one who had achieved such a glory by putting himself before everything, and sacrificing almost his life for the nation? It was a matter of pride for me to become wife of such a gallant and brave son of Mother India. He was a true and real Hero, the charming Prince of my life. With great persuasions and putting forward different convictions we got married on 31st May 2004.” Their daughter Adrija is around 7 years and is studying in a good school in Gwalior. Sandeep is presently posted at a premier training institution BSF Academy Tekanpur and successfully mparting computer training. Indrakshi is also teaching as TGT in BSF Senior Secondary School. She says, “I was fortunate to get him and being with him gives me a great sense of pride and satisfaction”. Love, definitely is a many splendored thing. Nobody knows as to how, where, when and why it originates but ultimately it always Wins. A nagging thought which may haunt us. Sandeep had sacrificed his eyes in the service of our Nation, as part of his duty. He was awarded President’s Police Medal for Gallantry in 2004 too. But, Indrakshi had always a choice. She was given the choice by her own sweet heart. But, she preferred to risk her life and pleasures with a handicapped and visually challenged action Hero. A great lady, in true sense. I must end this episode by mentioning the wonderful way the couple was enjoying each and every moment of that cultural evening holding hands together. Those who don’t know the story behind the happiness of this lively couple can never understand the feeling of doing noble things for national and social cause. Border Security Force has its own archive of bravery. Salute to such brave men and families, who always think about Nation before self. Many of us do not know about the sacrifices made by Mrs & Mr Sandeep Mishra Asstt. Comdt and many such other Prahari real life Heroes and their families. We always bow our heads in reverence for their sacrifices and Salute them for the Place of Pride that they have achieved, making the organisation and the Nation proud for being the sons of mother land. Though Border Security Force has end number of valiant and gallant men coming from all ranks of the force, who have made supreme sacrifices in the service of our nation since its birth and tradition is still continuing.

Astrology Question: ARE YOU AN INDIGO? Today is an INDIGO letter day! Not only will we experience the Libra moon touching upon the cardinal cross, the stellium in LEO continues to expand in its pomp, circumstance(s) and determination (read: stubbornness) to accomplish as much as possible. The Problem? With all of that bossy cardinal leadership energy flooding the plain of influence, you can count on many people to voluntarily provide you with unsolicited advice! This gift with purchase usually comes in the form of barking, nagging and roaring presumably for "your own good." YOU'RE WELCOME! Do We Need Another Hero? Only if that hero is yourself. Conflicts of this nature will drive you well beyond the level of Mad Max and his "thunder dome." That's right ladies and gentleman, its beginning to smell a lot like a post apocalyptic world out there. The conflict and warfare, wealth inequality and countries like Argentina joining countries like Greece in economic default, everyone is looking for an escape. Naturally there is more worry and stress out there after the so-called collapse of the global economy in 2007-2008 (Hello Pluto ingress into Capricorn). While this post isn't very "Eckhart Tolle," it has to be pointed out because of "The power of Now" seems to be rooted in "the law of attraction." Such principles supposedly work best when we keep a positive head space with as little ego as possible. But its not enough to have your head in the game, your heart has to be in that space too if you want tangible long-term impact. Does Positive Thinking and The Law of Attraction Help us to transcend adversity and shift from victim to victor? I suppose it depends on who you talk to. Some people will argue that this way of thinking is just a bunch of New Age "self-delusion" that is equivalent to putting your hands in your pocket and sticking your head in the sand. Many of my friends call this the "pink unicorn." The pink unicorn has to be perfect in all of their pursuits to transcend and ascend to a higher plain. Presumably to leave the rest of us "remedials," to our own devices. Everything must be highest vibrational, highest intention, completely aligned chakras and "shadow work," morning, noon and night. While these are noble principles, it is not always realistic to remain on that frequency throughout each day and in each of life's challenges. How can i get through all of the clashing cardinal and fixed energies? Please give yourself the space to just be human. This whole "ascension thang," is tough work and you may want to consider the idea that some days you won't be bringing your "A" game. Step away from the shaming and allow yourself some space for growth and resume "ascension training" when you recover (cue "eye of the tiger," from Rocky III). When you stop shaming and judging yourself, by extension you will stop doing that to others. (It also can work the other way around). Are there any models of this behavior? Not exactly. But Luckily for you, there are a lot of so-called "star-seeds," "indigos," "Indigo scouts," and "blue rays" in our population that were born in the last 40+ years to help us create "the age of enlightenment." Perhaps they are incarnating now just in case the pink unicorn and the ancient aliens don't show up to help us clean up this mess. Nephilim, Anunnaki and Blue Rays oh my! Why do I mention all of the so-called new age kids? Because this is the generation that is supposed to be born with the gonads (gender neutral) to actually facilitate change instead of just talk about it. (Now switch from Eye of the tiger to "don't dream it, be it" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show). While I won't describe each of the separate profiles of these beings I will say that August is potentially a big activation month for them. These are beings that are ⚡Intelligent ⚡ Creative ⚡ Prefer leadership positions rather than working in a team ⚡ Anger towards politics ⚡ Do not work well with "authorities" ⚡ Desire to change the world ⚡ Had spiritual interests at a young age ⚡ Psychic abilities ⚡Sensitive ⚡ Relate to adults better unless there are children of the same vibration around ⚡A strong need to help others ⚡Choosey with the food they eat These beings also tend to be metaphysically oriented, sometimes anti-religious, love animals, are sensitive to light, and seek to escape the fiat money system. This is why you have a lot more people doing Reiki, Massage Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Art and readings of some type. While not everyone claims the label of "lightworker," many people are learning to follow their bliss, even at the temporary expense of their material attachments. Is it safe to say that everyone is moving towards their bliss? Of course you should challenge everything I share in this article and on my site with your own research. The purpose of this article was simply to get you to consider the other ways that people are shifting their consciousness as a preamble to shifting their way of living. Books like the Aquarian Empath (Irma Kaye Sawyer), The Secret (Rhonda Byrne), E-Squared (Pam Grout), discuss how energy and attitude are connected to manifestation and by extension to success. This month of eight (8), strength and LEO "the lion" are considered big in the philosophy of Astrology. So be on the look out for lots of theatrics. With the approaching full super moon in Aquarius on August 10, expect a lot of focus on the plight of humanity as a whole (the macrocosm, Aquarius, Prometheus) not just your individual ego needs (microcosm, Leo, Apollo, Heru). Sure things are not perfect, but I can definitely see that the children of tomorrow are here creating a shift today! Please share your thoughts on being an indigo below. *Remember to treat others with respect, regardless of the "kill or be killed," energy of the LEO stellium. I see you! I appreciate you! Namaste, Sawa Bona, In Lock'esh!

Setting Boundaries with Family Sins Exodus 20:1-5 - “And God spoke all these words: “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.” Susie had a problem that I (Dr. Townsend) had seen countless times before. This thirty-year-old woman would return from a visit to her parents’ home and suffer a deep depression. When she described her problem to me, I asked her if she noticed that every time she went home to visit, she came back extremely depressed. “Why that’s ridiculous,” she said. “I don’t live there anymore. How could the trip affect me this way?” When I asked her to describe the trip, Susie told of social gatherings with old friends and family times around the dinner table. These were fun, she said, especially when it was only family. “What do you mean ‘only family’?” I asked. “Well, other times my parents would invite some of my friends over, and I didn’t like those dinners as well.” “Why was that?” Susie thought for a minute and then replied, “I guess I start to feel guilty.” She began to recount the subtle remarks her parents would make comparing her friends’ lives to hers. They would talk of how wonderful it is for grandparents to have a “hands on” role in raising the children. They would talk of the community activities her friends were doing and how wonderful she would be at those activities if she only lived there. The list went on and on. Susie soon discovered that, when she returned home, she felt as if she were bad for living where she lived. She had a nagging sense that she really should do what her parents wanted her to do. Susie had a common problem. She had made choices on the outside. She had moved away from the family she grew up in to pursue a career on her own. She had been paying her own bills. She had even gotten married and had a child. But on the inside, things were different. She did not have emotional permission to be a separate person, make free choices about her life, and not feel guilty when she did not do what her parents wanted. She could still yield to pressure. The real problem is on the inside. Remember, boundaries define someone’s property. Susie, and others like her, do not really “own” themselves. People who own their lives do not feel guilty when they make choices about where they are going. They take other people into consideration, but when they make choices for the wishes of others, they are choosing out of love, not guilt; to advance a good, not to avoid being bad. Why Do We Act This Way? The patterns you learn at home growing up are continued into adulthood with the same players: lack of consequences for irresponsible behavior, lack of confrontation, lack of limits, taking responsibility for others instead of yourself, giving out of compulsion and resentment, envy, passivity, and secrecy. These patterns are not new, they have just never been confronted and repented of. These patterns run deep. Your family members are the ones you learned to organize your life around, so they are able to send you back to old patterns by their very presence. You begin to act automatically out of memory instead of growth. To change, you must identify these “sins of the family” and turn from them. You must confess them as sins, repent of them, and change the way you handle them. The first step in establishing boundaries is becoming aware of old family patterns that you are still continuing in the present. Look at the struggles you are having with boundaries in your family of origin, identify which laws are being broken, and then pinpoint the resulting negative fruit in your life. The Law of Reaping and Sowing by Dr. Henry Cloud and John Townsend from Boundaries The law of cause and effect is a basic law of life. The Bible calls it the Law of Sowing and Reaping. You reap whatever you sow. If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. - Galatians 6:7-8 When God tells us that we will reap what we sow, He is not punishing us; He’s telling us how things really are. If you smoke cigarettes, you most likely will develop a smoker’s hack, and you may even get lung cancer. If you overspend, you most likely will get calls from creditors, and you may even go hungry because you have no money for food. On the other hand, if you eat right and exercise regularly, you may suffer from fewer colds and bouts with the flu. If you budget wisely, you will have money for the bill collectors and for the grocery store. Sometimes, however, people don’t reap what they sow, because someone else steps in and reaps the consequences for them. If every time you overspent, your mother sent you money to cover check overdrafts or high credit-card balances, you wouldn’t reap the consequences of your spend-thrift ways. Your mother would be protecting you from the natural consequences: the hounding of creditors or going hungry. As the mother in the above example demonstrates, the Law of Sowing and Reaping can be interrupted. And it is often people who have no boundaries who do the interrupting. Just as we can interfere with the law of gravity by catching a glass tumbling off the table, people can interfere with the Law of Cause and Effect by stepping in and rescuing irresponsible people. Rescuing a person from the natural consequences of his behavior enables him to continue in irresponsible behavior. The Law of Sowing and Reaping has not been repealed. It is still operating. But the doer is not suffering the consequences; someone else is. Today we call a person who continually rescues another person a codependent. In effect, codependent, boundaryless people “cosign the note” of life for the irresponsible person. Then they end up paying the bills - physically, emotionally, and spiritually - and the spendthrift continues out of control with no consequences. He continues to be loved, pampered, and treated nicely. Establishing boundaries helps codependent people stop interrupting the Law of Sowing and Reaping in their loved one’s life. Boundaries force the person who is doing the sowing to also do the reaping. It doesn’t help just to confront the irresponsible person. A client will often say to me, “But I do confront Jack. I have tried many times to let him know what I think about his behavior and that he needs to change.” In reality, my client is only nagging Jack. Jack will not feel the need to change because his behavior is not causing him any pain. Confronting an irresponsible person is not painful to him; only consequences are. If Jack is wise, confrontation might change his behavior. But people caught in destructive patterns are usually not wise. They need to suffer consequences before they change their behavior. The Bible tells us it is worthless to confront foolish people: Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. - Proverbs 9:8 Codependent people bring insults and pain onto themselves when they confront irresponsible people. In reality, they just need to stop interrupting the law of sowing and reaping in someone’s life. The Law of Reaping and Sowing
by Dr. Henry Cloud and John Townsend from Boundaries

The law of cause and effect is a basic law of life. The Bible calls it the Law of Sowing and Reaping.

You reap whatever you sow. If you sow to your own flesh, you will reap corruption from the flesh; but if you sow to the Spirit, you will reap eternal life from the Spirit. - Galatians 6:7-8

When God tells us that we will reap what we sow, He is not punishing us; He’s telling us how things really are.

The Bible tells us it is worthless to confront foolish people:

Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you. - Proverbs 9:8

Codependent people bring insults and pain onto themselves when they confront irresponsible people. In reality, they just need to stop interrupting the law of sowing and reaping in someone’s life.

Saint of the Day Wednesday, August 27, 2014 St. Monica (322?-387) The circumstances of St. Monica’s life could have made her a nagging wife, a bitter daughter-in-law and a despairing parent, yet she did not give way to any of these temptations. Although she was a Christian, her parents gave her in marriage to a pagan, Patricius, who lived in her hometown of Tagaste in North Africa. Patricius had some redeeming features, but he had a violent temper and was licentious. Monica also had to bear with a cantankerous mother-in-law who lived in her home. Patricius criticized his wife because of her charity and piety, but always respected her. Monica’s prayers and example finally won her husband and mother-in-law to Christianity. Her husband died in 371, one year after his baptism. Monica had at least three children who survived infancy. The oldest, Augustine (August 28) , is the most famous. At the time of his father’s death, Augustine was 17 and a rhetoric student in Carthage. Monica was distressed to learn that her son had accepted the Manichean heresy (all flesh is evil) and was living an immoral life. For a while, she refused to let him eat or sleep in her house. Then one night she had a vision that assured her Augustine would return to the faith. From that time on, she stayed close to her son, praying and fasting for him. In fact, she often stayed much closer than Augustine wanted. When he was 29, Augustine decided to go to Rome to teach rhetoric. Monica was determined to go along. One night he told his mother that he was going to the dock to say goodbye to a friend. Instead, he set sail for Rome. Monica was heartbroken when she learned of Augustine’s trick, but she still followed him. She arrived in Rome only to find that he had left for Milan. Although travel was difficult, Monica pursued him to Milan. In Milan, Augustine came under the influence of the bishop, St. Ambrose, who also became Monica’s spiritual director. She accepted his advice in everything and had the humility to give up some practices that had become second nature to her (see Quote, below). Monica became a leader of the devout women in Milan as she had been in Tagaste. She continued her prayers for Augustine during his years of instruction. At Easter, 387, St. Ambrose baptized Augustine and several of his friends. Soon after, his party left for Africa. Although no one else was aware of it, Monica knew her life was near the end. She told Augustine, “Son, nothing in this world now affords me delight. I do not know what there is now left for me to do or why I am still here, all my hopes in this world being now fulfilled.” She became ill shortly after and suffered severely for nine days before her death. Almost all we know about St. Monica is in the writings of St. Augustine, especially his Confessions. Comment: Today, with Internet searches, e-mail shopping, text messages, tweets and instant credit, we have little patience for things that take time. Likewise, we want instant answers to our prayers. Monica is a model of patience. Her long years of prayer, coupled with a strong, well-disciplined character, finally led to the conversion of her hot-tempered husband, her cantankerous mother-in-law and her brilliant but wayward son, Augustine. Quote: When Monica moved from North Africa to Milan, she found religious practices new to her and also that some of her former customs, such as a Saturday fast, were not common there. She asked St. Ambrose which customs she should follow. His classic reply was: “When I am here, I do not fast on Saturday, but I fast when I am in Rome; do the same and always follow the custom and discipline of the Church as it is observed in the particular locality in which you find yourself.” Patron Saint of: Alcoholics Married women Mothers Source: http://www.americancatholic.org/Features/SaintofDay/default.aspx

St. Monica
(322?-387)

The circumstances of St.

Comment:

Today, with Internet searches, e-mail shopping, text messages, tweets and instant credit, we have little patience for things that take time.

Todays special holiday #MMHM ( Mom's Must Have Monday) is if you're planning on hosting people at your home during the holidays, Carrie's Essential Services, LLC wants to share some helpful ways to stay organized with 5 easy tips: 1. De-clutter. The week of your holiday gathering, take time to de-clutter, going one room at a time. If you don't have time, no problem! Invest in a bin for each room to gather unused items. Make sure you label the bin, to allow you to keep items contained for each room. When you have time, you can go through each bin. Each of the containers should be stored in a un-used room. 2. Bathroom sharing. Place all non-essential items either in your linen closet or under the sink. If you need access to your items, put them in a travel bag, so they are easily available when needed. 3. Trash removal. If you're having a large crowd over and using plastic utensils, consider buying a pop-up bin for trash and recycling. Pop-up bins are great for big parties with limited space -- you can take it right out to your trash or recycling bins. No more changing bags in the middle of holiday parties. These bins can easily be found online or at Party City stores. 4. Clean the house. Plan ahead before your company comes, and clean 1-2 days before the big event. In addition, keep a bin of smaller-sized cleaning products. Keep the container handy for each room, so paper towels, rags, glass cleaner and all purpose cleaning are easily accessible. This way the container only holds what is essential to everyday living clean-up, spills, etc. 5. Clothes for the hostess. 15 minutes before the party starts, the hostess should plan to get dressed. Also, plan out the outfits for yourself, husband/partner and children the night before. There are too many variables that could happen on the big day, which is the last thing you want to deal with. Plus, if you get stuck, your husband/partner or another adult can help out in a pinch with your kids if needed. If you would like to learn more tips on how to stay organized during the upcoming holidays or are interested in a free organizational consultation for your home or business, please email Carrie at carrietheorganizer@gmail.com. Thank you and hope you have a great holiday season! #CESLLC #momtips #happyholidays #strollersessions

Galatians 6:2 New International Version (NIV) 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Where do I start? Maybe apologizing early if this steps on some toes but like a wonderful lady mentioned after my sermon this past week, "You may have been aiming for my toes but you struck my heart"! I feel as though we need to do a better job of sharing with each other. I have stood in front of many different congregations and Christians through the years and sat in more pews during this time but have always felt the same nagging feeling. We as brothers and sisters need to do a better job of reaching out and being open to bearing one another's burdens. As Paul told the Christians in Galatia, we need to be prepared to not only bear the burdens of others but also be prepared to allow others to bear ours as needed. I know in my life there have been times where I could have definitely used a shoulder to lean on or just an ear to listen but I was too PRIDEFUL to share the burden which was weighing down my heart and soul. These are the exact times where our brothers and sisters in Christ must make it a point to be there for each other. We all will have times within our lives where we just cannot handle it by ourselves or maybe it will just make it a lot easier to bear. Thoughts such as "They have plenty to worry about, so there is not need to share my burdens with them", " I can handle this myself", "They will judge me" are all excuses which Satan puts on our heart so we internalize all the sin and shame which goes with it. As I reminded the Christians I was with on Sunday, we are told we ALL fall SHORT of the GLORY of GOD! There is no need for us to be ashamed of this! Once we get past our own pride and we soften our heart to share, we need to be prepared to let them help. As listeners and those ready to "bear" the burden, we need to be prepared to be open and not judgmental. Realizing everyone has their own shortcomings and they may not match up with mine will help us to take steps towards being the open and loving body of Christ he asks and expects of us. I challenge you to open your heart and soul and let's start a movement where we as Christians will not be embarrassed or prideful to share our shortcomings and open up and realize the invitation for prayer is ALWAYS open. As the Bible tells us, the prayers of a righteous man avails much. We just need to be those righteous people so our prayers can be heard and can help those who need it.

Canadiens beat Red Wings 4-3 in OT on Eller goal

MONTREAL — Move over Jacques Plante and Ken Dryden. Make room for Carey Price at the top.

A brilliant season that has made the Montreal Canadiens goalie a candidate for the Hart Trophy also has put him into the team record book. Price notched his team-record 43rd victory of the season on Thursday night as the Canadiens beat the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime on a goal by Lars Eller.

Price surpassed the mark of 42 wins by Plante (1955-56 and 1961-62) and Dryden (1975-76).

Parking fines go up for game days

Parking fines go up for game days

Beginning Monday on Opening Day, people who park in resident-only spaces in the neighborhoods around Fenway Park during Red Sox games will have to pay more than double the usual fine.

Mayor Martin J. Walsh yesterday signed an ordinance — passed by the City Council Wednesday — that will pilot increasing the fine from $40 to $100 to discourage game attendees who don’t live in those neighborhoods from parking in resident-only zones.

‘Salt of the Earth’ a visual work of art

To the list of recent, visually stunning films such as “Gravity,” “The Life of Pi” and “The Cave of Forgotten Dreams,” we can now add Wim Wenders and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado’s “The Salt of the Earth.” A celebration of the art of the award-winning Brazilian photographer Sebastiao Salgado, the film is a kind of live-action version of Salgado’s social-reform-oriented photographs, using Salgado’s striking prints as starting points for the live-action footage, voice-overs and interviews.

New trick: 287 canines star in film

New trick: 287 canines star in film

NEW YORK — Hungary’s thrilling “White God” (opening today) surprises, with good reason.

How many movies have almost 300 dogs running through Budapest and taking revenge — and lives — of any humans who cross their paths?

Writer/director Kornel Mundruczo, 40, sees “White God” as a thriller and a cautionary allegory about what happens when an oppressed minority, human or animal, rises up against injustice.

Healey: Forgive student debt

Healey: Forgive student debt

Attorney General Maura Healey, along with attorneys general across the country, is asking the federal Department of Education to forgive the student loan debt of students who they say fell victim to unfair and misleading practices by for-profit schools.

“These are situations where students are simply seeking a way to better themselves, and they get lured in by these false promises, and then they’re on the hook for $15,000, $20,000,” Healey said. “I’ve heard from so many people who were victimized by these schools.”
